Meet The Demi Staff

Samantha was born and raised in Spring, TX and has been involved with competitive dance/drill team since she was four years old. Samantha trained with In-Step Dance Center from 1995 to 2003 and continued her training with North Harris Performing Arts from 2003 to 2005. Mrs. Sommers entered the world of drill team in 2006 when she made the College Park High School Reveliers Dance Team. Samantha served as a Lieutenant Dance Officer for her Senior year. Mrs. Sommers graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Upon graduation, she accepted a job at Knox Junior High School to teach mathematics and direct the KJH Gingham Girls Drill Team for 11 years! Mrs. Sommers is excited to return to the world of competitive/studio dance. Fun fact, her favorite dance style is tap! When not working, Samantha spends time with friends & family, her husband, daughter and son.

Sierra was born and raised in The Woodlands, TX with starting her dancing journey at the age of 4 years old at the studio, In-Step Dance Center doing Ballet, Tap, and Hip-Hop. She continued her dance journey from there through dancing in her 3rd grade school, and continuing on to Boni’s Dance Studio where she focused on Hip-Hop/Jazz, Ballet, and eventually moving her way up to Pointe in 2014. She continued on her focus in Ballet and Pointe, along with starting Modern Dance at the Payne’s Dance Academy in 2016 where she had learned and trained with some of the Professional Ballerina’s/Dancer’s from the Houston Ballet. Throughout that time, she also joined the Drill Team world in 2012 by dancing in Gingham Girls at the Knox Jr. High School for both of her 7th and 8th grade years, and then following on to dancing for her high school Drill Team, Reveliers, at College Park High School from 2014-2017. She has won many awards during her time in Drill Team, and was always awarded with ‘Most Outstanding Kicker’ every year throughout Reveliers. Following high school, Sierra continued her education at Sam Houston State University majoring in Business Management & Marketing. From there, she is now an Event Manager/Coordinator where she does Sport’s Photography events like the Simone Biles International Invitational and many more. Lastly, a fun fact of Sierra, is that one of her favorite skills in dance is doing Pirouettes and Turns! Sierra is very excited to now be teaching with The Demi Dance Academy, and she can’t wait to share her love for dance through teaching. When not working, she spends her free time with friends and family, and also sharing the love of dance with her daughter.

Annie began her passion for dance at the young age of three where she learned the fundamentals to start her career. Excelling in both competitive cheer and dance, Annie trained at numerous studios where she competed in team dances, duets, and solos under professional training. Annie has won several national and state titles including being a 2X national solo champion. In 2017, here passion steered her in the direction of teaching and choreographing. This eventually led to more achievements including reginal, state, and national championships, along with creativity and choreography awards for her teams and soloists. She enjoys teaching and choreographing a variety of styles such as: jazz, hip hop, lyrical, contemporary, pom, and acro. Annie loves to share her passion with all ages and hopes to bring out the confidence in all dancers as they succeed in what they love.

Maisie Sturrock is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Human Resource Management at Sam Houston State University. Maisie has an extensive background in dance and performance starting at the age of 3. She spent two years on Knox Jr. High School Gingham Girls under the direction of the amazing Samantha Sommers and four years on The Woodlands College Park Reveliers Drill Team, demonstrating dedication, discipline, and teamwork. As a competitive dancer, she has performed at multiple parades, competitions and activities around The Woodlands area, showcasing her talent and passion for the arts. Her favorite styles are in both hip-hop, which lets her channel creativity and dynamic energy, and contemporary, which serves as a powerful outlet for expressing deep emotions through movement.
Maisie Sturrock

Courtney Meier grew up dancing at Boni’s Dance and Performing Arts studio in The Woodlands, Tx starting out at the age of three. She trained in every genre, however jazz and ballet were her passion. She performed in many shows growing up, but The Nutcracker was her main love. Courtney took her love for dance and performing with her to college at Whitworth University in Washington state. She was a member of Whitworths performance dance team, Jubilation. After spending three years in Washington, Courtney ended up at Dallas Powerhouse of Dance. It was here that Courtney discovered her love for teaching kids. She was Assistant Director of the Power Squad performance team, Power House Mini competitive team and taught many of the recreational classes. After leaving Powerhouse, Courtney moved back to The Woodlands where she taught at many of the area studios. Courtney has choreographed award winning solos for area drill team students. She has also judged many dance competitions and team tryouts around the state of Texas. Courtney has a passion for teaching children dance and devotes all her energy into this passion. She currently resides in The Woodlands with her husband Garrett and their four children, Wesley, Madi, Noah and Zoë. She is excited to call The Demi home.
